ZISSOU
A versatile workspace in Madrid's Tetuán neighborhood ZISSOU, designed by Extrarradio, reimagines a commercial space in Madrid's Tetuán neighborhood into a dynamic workspace for a production company. The project capitalizes on the existing fragmented geometry of the site, comprising a ground floor, mezzanine, and basement, to organize the program without additional partitions. This approach allows for a fluid and adaptable environment. The design establishes a neutral base with continuous linoleum flooring and white walls and ceilings, creating a backdrop that highlights the activities and people within. The central feature is a continuous table-furniture piece that traverses the space, serving multiple functions—desk, meeting table, kitchen, and planter. This element introduces flexibility and organization without imposing rigid hierarchies. Vegetation integrated into the table acts as a spatial filter, offering separation without division and adding depth to the space. The vertical connection is reimagined with grating treads and a perforated metal railing, enhancing transparency and allowing light and views to permeate the levels. The basement is dedicated to mixing and production, designed as an acoustically isolated technical cave. This area provides a dark, introspective setting for showcasing work. The mezzanine, designated for management, features a technical carpet cladding that improves acoustic comfort, maintaining the project's material and functional coherence.
