Curtidores 32
A domestic experience within a commercial space Curtidores 32, designed by JotaJota+, is a transformative approach to retail architecture, located in the vibrant city of Madrid. The project redefines the conventional mattress store by creating a seamless blend of commercial and domestic environments. Visitors are invited to explore a series of intimate settings that mimic the comforts of home, encouraging a personal interaction with the products. The store's spatial organization is anchored by a wooden perimeter, which subtly guides the visitor's journey. Privacy is ingeniously crafted through the use of differentiated flooring and suspended elements, such as sinuous tracks and large curtains, which define and enclose spaces without isolating them. The façade of Curtidores 32 is a bold statement in itself, featuring a striking yellow moulding and a sheet-metal stair that introduces a diagonal access from the street. This design choice acts as a visual attractor, drawing passersby into the store. Inside, the flooring is a mix of large-format neutral tiles and vibrant yellow carpets, delineating various domestic-like environments. Suspended tracks and curtains serve a dual purpose: they filter views and guide circulation, while also creating secluded areas where visitors can comfortably test the mattresses. This layout promotes individual exploration, allowing each visitor to chart their own course through the space, transforming the shopping experience into a personalized journey.
