A modern building with a rectangular shape, featuring large windows and a flat roof. The facade is structured with horizontal lines and there are trees and landscaping in the foreground.
Story
A seamless integration of past and present through bioclimatic design The Cher CCI Campus in Bourges, crafted by COSA, is a testament to the power of architectural memory and innovation. Nestled on the site of the former Lahitolle Barracks, the campus respects the historical geometries with its strict parallelepiped form, aligning with the refurbished armoury. The saw-tooth roofs illuminate the central atrium, a vibrant hub of interaction and learning. The building's materials, including stone and concrete plinths, maintain a mineral quality that harmonizes with the site's existing palette. The ribbon windows, integral to the design, offer flexibility while ensuring protection from the elements through a sophisticated sun and weather shielding system. The atrium, the heart of the campus, is ingeniously ventilated by the saw-tooth roof openings and ceiling fans, optimizing thermal conditions year-round. This bioclimatic approach extends to the building's exoskeleton, which supports maintenance and climate control with adjustable sunshades. Economically and environmentally conscious, the campus employs prefabricated elements to minimize its carbon footprint. The design's flexibility, free from technical constraints, allows for future adaptability, ensuring the architecture remains relevant and sustainable.
