Tiffany Façade . Beijing
A Jewel in Beijing's Architectural Landscape
In the bustling Taikoo-Li Sanlitun commercial neighborhood of Beijing, a new architectural gem has emerged. The Tiffany Façade, designed by the renowned architectural firm MVRDV, stands as a testament to innovative design and luxurious elegance. Inspired by the flowing shapes of Elsa Peretti's jewellery masterpieces, this flagship store for Tiffany & Co. introduces a unique design motif that marries cutting-edge materials with expressive three-dimensional forms.
The façade is adorned with translucent, textured glass fins that rise vertically along the building's four-storey height. These fins, responsibly recycled and locally manufactured, gently curve to create an elegant, fluid form. At night, the façade is illuminated in the iconic Tiffany Blue®, casting a diffuse glow that enhances its ethereal presence. The design ensures minimal hardware visibility, with lighting modules integrated into the brackets holding the glass fins.
The façade's demountable design allows for the removal and potential reuse or recycling of its components, reflecting a commitment to sustainability. Situated at a strategic crossroads where luxury brands dominate, the Tiffany Façade is both a beacon of modern design and a celebration of Tiffany & Co.'s illustrious heritage.
