A tranquil abode amidst nature's embrace In the quiet town of Ullo, Hungary, KONKRET Studio has crafted a modern home that harmonizes with its natural surroundings. Positioned at the rear of a long family property, the house is enveloped by a walnut grove and expansive hay fields, offering a serene escape from the nearby main street. The strategic placement of the home, behind an older farmhouse, ensures privacy and a connection to nature, with views of deer and rabbits enhancing the peaceful atmosphere. The home's exterior is strikingly wrapped in black corrugated fiber-cement, a material chosen for its durability and industrial texture. This bold choice creates a continuous envelope, seamlessly integrating the low-pitched asymmetrical roof with the walls. The corrugated surface casts dynamic shadow lines, adding depth to the minimalist form. The absence of traditional roof overhangs sharpens the silhouette, reinforcing its modern aesthetic. Warmth is introduced through recessed alcoves lined with raw larch wood, providing inviting transitions between the interior and exterior. These spaces include a sheltered entry and a covered terrace, the latter extending into the walnut grove and serving as an outdoor dining area. Inside, the 110-square-meter layout is efficiently divided into private and shared zones. The open-plan living area features a concealed kitchen, polished concrete floors, and a restrained color palette, with grey tones and yellow accents. Bedrooms offer parquet flooring for added warmth, while the playroom remains visually connected to the main living space.
