A civic campus of museum, forum, and library expressing cultural architecture on Chicago’s South Side
Project Overview
The Obama Presidential Center is planned as a cultural architecture campus by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects on Chicago’s South Side. The design organizes a museum architecture tower, a forum building, and a library around a publicly accessible plaza, integrating the ensemble with its surrounding landscape.

Each building can be entered individually at the plaza level while remaining connected below grade to support operations and visitor flow. The Center is conceived to balance symbolic presence with practical spaces aimed at civic engagement and dialogue. The integration of landscape integration is a crucial design element, enhancing the connection with the environment.
