Haus Zwischen Scheiben
A spatial interplay of planes and rooms unfolds in Haus Zwischen Scheiben, where urban rhythm meets serene green spaces. Haus Zwischen Scheiben in Dietikon, designed by Atelier NU, is a masterful exploration of spatial dynamics through the use of precisely placed, space-defining planes. The building's façades align with the street, developing bay projections on the upper floors that subtly rhythmize the urban edge. At the street corner, the absence of setback greenery creates a neighborhood square, enhancing the building's urban presence and fostering community interaction. The southeast façade maximizes length to embrace the tranquility of the adjacent green space, while the southern edge seamlessly integrates with existing structures, completing the urban fabric. The architecture is characterized by a dialogue between solid vertical planes and a light, open structure, allowing for framed views and a fluid internal spatial organization. Facing the street, ribbon windows and bay projections provide privacy and connection to the public realm. The interior is organized around a central wall that defines and orients spaces, offering versatile spatial relationships within a compact footprint. The building culminates in a shared rooftop terrace, offering residents a communal retreat.
