Tower
Reimagining Urban Living in Tbilisi Positioned at the western edge of Tbilisi, the Tower by Jan Kinsbergen is a bold architectural statement that harmonizes with the dramatic landscape of the Vere Valley. The project is part of the Napetvrebi Orchard masterplan, which spans 8.1 hectares and is deeply embedded in the site's steep topography. This contemporary "Galavani" is a circumvallating ring of 23 brick buildings that mediate between the urban environment and a cultivated orchard. The design incorporates a continuous balcony layer, inspired by the traditional Georgian "shushabandi," which acts as both a climatic buffer and a social interface. This feature connects private residences with the communal park, fostering a sense of community. The central park serves as a semi-public space, featuring structured gardens, shared agricultural plots, and rain gardens, all contributing to a sustainable ecosystem. Nine public entrance porticos and new transit links integrate the project into the urban fabric, establishing a human-scale environment reminiscent of a "city within a city." Here, nature and architecture coexist, sustained by daily human interaction and participation.
