la primera in Maresme
A Mediterranean home that harmonizes with its environment through passive design and traditional materials. Located at the intersection of a historic center and a low-density residential area in Maresme, Spain, 'la primera' by Hue Studio is a thoughtful architectural response to its context. The site, characterized by mature Mediterranean trees, informed the design's modular grid of three equivalent rectangles. This layout respects the natural elements and optimizes solar orientation, creating a balance between shared spaces and private areas. The house features two courtyards that enhance natural light and ventilation, crucial for maintaining comfort without active cooling systems. The load-bearing masonry structure, with walls varying from 45 cm to 1.10 m, utilizes local earth and ceramic bricks, providing high thermal inertia. A lime mortar finish ensures breathability and regulates indoor humidity, reflecting a commitment to sustainable, vernacular construction techniques.
