Integrating Architecture and Landscape in Anderlecht The Westpark project in Anderlecht is a bold transformation of a former office building into a vibrant residential community, seamlessly integrating architecture with a newly created park landscape. The design by 51N4E redefines the site, shifting from an isolated corporate environment to an open, inhabited urban space. Central to the project is the adaptive reuse of the existing structure, maintaining its façade materials while introducing a striking three-floor rooftop extension. This addition is punctuated by a dramatic 25-meter circular opening, channeling daylight deep into the building's core. This architectural intervention transforms the once deep and insular office floorplate into a porous, light-filled living environment. Surrounding the building, the grounds are reimagined as a layered park landscape, fostering movement, biodiversity, and social interaction. The synergy between the building and its natural surroundings creates a residential environment that is both collective and open, where architecture and landscape coalesce into a harmonious whole.
