Story

A revival of a historical building in the Ore Mountains, integrating modern sustainability with traditional architecture. In the Ore Mountains, a region once depopulated and forgotten, No Architects have embarked on a project that breathes new life into the landscape. The intervention focuses on a preserved building, once a hub of local life, now transformed into a vibrant space for summer camps and family accommodations. The design decisively moves away from nostalgic romanticism, embracing a contemporary aesthetic marked by a striking use of white. A durable white steel cap and gleaming steel suit envelop the old structure, seamlessly connecting it to a new building through a wooden roof. This bold choice symbolizes a fresh start. The project is deeply rooted in the challenging climatic conditions of the Ore Mountains, where long winters and heavy rainfall are the norm. Sustainable solutions include a ground collector for heating, a photovoltaic power plant, and a root treatment plant, all ensuring low-cost, long-term operation. The interiors are designed for durability and comfort, accommodating the lively activities of children and families.
