HALLE . Bois d’Arcy
A timber canopy sheltering a vibrant market hall The HALLE in Bois-d’Arcy, a project by ACAU Architectes, thoughtful urban integration and sustainable design. Situated in the historic center, the structure is a protective canopy that harmonizes with the surrounding stone architecture. The market hall's regular timber framework is elevated above two meters, supported by sandblasted, integrally colored concrete, ensuring durability and visual coherence. Large openings blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, facilitating seamless movement and secure closure. A multipurpose room, designed as a showcase, opens onto the hall and public space, benefiting from the generous roof overhang. Natural light filters through strategically placed roof openings, enhancing the circulation areas and multipurpose room. The west side accommodates technical rooms, waste storage, and sanitary facilities, with ventilation ducts cleverly integrated above. The forecourt and landscaped parking area are designed for rainwater infiltration, complemented by a rainwater harvesting system for irrigation and cleaning. This market hall, used weekly and for larger events, offers flexibility and a strong connection to its urban context.
