Cultural Center . Balsapintada
A Civic Hub Reimagined through Sustainable Design The Balsapintada Cultural Center the power of adaptive reuse and community-centered design. Situated in the heart of Fuente Álamo de Murcia, this project by COR Architecture + Design transforms an existing structure into a vibrant civic hub. The renovation aligns with the New European Bauhaus principles, emphasizing accessibility, sustainability, and social cohesion. Facing a principal town square, the center's strategic location enhances its role as a social and cultural nucleus. The design respects the original architectural identity while integrating modern technical upgrades. The facade, clad in blue-green metal with red accents, rejuvenates the building's image and unifies its three distinct blocks. This transformation optimizes thermal performance through enhanced insulation and energy-efficient elements. Inside, flexible spaces accommodate diverse activities, supported by movable partitions and improved circulation. The project prioritizes natural light, vegetation, and natural materials, fostering a sense of well-being. The building's digitalization and NZEB status underscore its commitment to contemporary standards of energy efficiency and accessibility.
