Story

A sustainable social hub in Getxo The Tiki Toki Social Center in Getxo innovative architectural design that harmonizes with its environment. Situated at the entrance to the Fadura sports park, this building serves as a gateway, bridging the urban landscape with the recreational area. The center is designed to host a variety of activities beyond traditional sports, including team meetings, fairs, and entrepreneurial ventures. The architectural layout is divided into three distinct areas. The covered outdoor space features a striking gable structure, integrating a century-old pine tree through a roof opening, which becomes a focal point of the design. This space is open at the lower levels, promoting natural ventilation and a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape. Inside, a two-story building offers thermally conditioned spaces tailored to their functions. The ground floor provides a flexible area that can operate independently or in conjunction with the outdoor space, while the upper floor accommodates offices for sports-related and tech startups. The landscaped zones, rich with mature trees, complement the building's social functions, enhancing its role during informal gatherings. The construction emphasizes sustainability, using wood as the primary structural material, supported by concrete pillars to mitigate flood risks from the nearby Gobela River.
