Story

A historic villa transformed into a vibrant community hub The Community House in Hansbeke is a thoughtful transformation of the villa of Miss De Schuijter, reimagined as a dynamic community space. The project is deeply connected to its parkland setting, with the villa restored to its original symmetry, enhancing visual connections to the surrounding landscape. A new hexagonal volume, designed to house a multifunctional hall, complements the villa. This new structure, slightly elevated on a concrete plinth, maintains a harmonious relationship with the park, ensuring the continuity of the site's natural beauty. The transition between the villa and the new hall is marked by a foyer and entrance space, seamlessly blending old and new, interior and exterior. The design respects heritage values while introducing modern accessibility and flexibility. The villa's interior is warmed by parquet flooring, wood finishes, and dark red ceramic tiles, creating an inviting atmosphere. The new hall, despite its larger scale, offers an intimate experience through its enclosed form and visible CLT structure.
