Multipurpose Hall, Bois Corberon
A contemporary communal space rooted in tradition In the quaint village of Corberon, France, the new multipurpose hall by LINK architectes emerges as a modern yet contextually sensitive addition to the rural landscape. The project replaces an outdated community hall, addressing the need for a shared space that is both accessible and visible. The design respects the village's architectural heritage, characterized by stone and brick constructions, while introducing contemporary elements that enhance functionality and aesthetic appeal. The hall's strategic location near the town hall and post office reinforces the village center, creating a cohesive civic ensemble. Its form responds to the surrounding built fabric, which comprises distinct volumes and varied setbacks, by adopting a similar material and formal heterogeneity. The hall's silhouette, with its pitched zinc roofs and pinkish brick cladding, echoes traditional village structures, yet its large openings and dynamic rooflines assert a modern identity. Internally, the hall is organized as a sequence of permeable spaces, extending from the forecourt to the hedged landscape, with natural light streaming through high-level northern openings. The entrance hall and bar seamlessly transition into the main hall, fostering a fluid connection with the forecourt and allowing public visibility of the diverse activities within.
