Transforming constraints into spatial opportunities In the dense urban fabric of Badalona, Casa Carme innovative spatial reconfiguration. Designed by Enric Rojo Arquitectura, this project redefines the typology of a narrow terraced house, measuring a mere three and a half meters in width. The intervention focuses on a central vertical void that serves as the heart of the home, facilitating circulation and drawing natural light deep into the structure. The vertical void is not merely a circulation core but acts as an interior cloister, crowned by a large skylight. This design choice ensures that every corner of the house is bathed in natural light, enhancing the sense of openness despite the narrow footprint. The exposed timber structure adds warmth and texture, offering a clear visual narrative of the construction method. Material choices were carefully curated to maintain a neutral aesthetic with a soft tactile quality, emphasizing natural solutions. This approach aligns with sustainable architectural practices. Casa Carme exemplifies how geometric constraints can be transformed into opportunities, creating a sequence of fluid, interconnected spaces that challenge the conventional limitations of narrow urban living.
