Playground . Yangzhou
An ephemeral installation transforming a wedding into a dynamic playground The "Playground" by Suki+Partners is an interactive installation crafted for a wedding in Yangzhou, China. This project reimagines the traditional concept of a playground, extending it beyond childhood into a realm of continuous growth and interaction. Set on a vast 2,640 m² lawn, the installation is designed to enrich the space with minimal construction, creating a unique spatial experience that encourages exploration and interaction. The installation employs large red balloons to gently lift the corners of a pale pink fabric, transforming a flat plane into a three-dimensional form. This draped fabric creates a play of positive and negative space, inviting guests to explore both above and beneath. The shaded areas beneath the fabric, supported by columns, provide natural ventilation and house cooling systems and seating for comfort. The dynamic nature of the installation is further enhanced by the wind, which animates the fabric, creating a constantly shifting environment.
