Maison de quartier . Geneva
A harmonious blend of old and new in Geneva's urban fabric The Maison de quartier in Geneva is a thoughtful architectural proposal by brenabrenas . Mora Millan. The design centers around an existing construction, which is embraced by a new timber structure, forming a peripheral gallery that seamlessly connects to the exterior. This gallery is anchored by a continuous floor crafted from reused concrete slabs, emphasizing sustainability and resourcefulness. The project's limited footprint ingeniously defines four distinct outdoor public spaces, each with its own character and function: the entrance square to the north, a shared garden to the east, a rain garden to the south, and a promenade to the west. The façades on each side are composed of varied reused materials, enhancing the project's environmental narrative. In summer, the building's glazing can be retracted behind the overhanging eaves, allowing the historical structure to become the visible façade once more. This dynamic interaction between the old and new elements commitment to preserving heritage while embracing modernity.
