M06 – A Neighborhood House
A modest yet spatially rich home in Villaverde Alto In Villaverde Alto, a young couple embarks on a journey to create a home on a modest 200 m² plot in their familiar neighborhood. The design, by MINIMO, is a response to both economic constraints and the need for a sustainable, integrated urban dwelling. The house is a geometric and material diagram, organized over two floors with a central core containing the staircase, bathrooms, and service shafts. This core acts as a panopticon, connecting four equivalent rooms per floor. A double-height entrance courtyard enhances vertical connectivity and spatial openness. On the ground floor, the kitchen and living areas are linked by sliding doors, providing flexibility, while the upper floor houses three bedrooms with terraces, separated by built-in wardrobes. The material palette is deliberately austere: red tiles in a running bond pattern unify the floors, while varnished birch joinery and pine windows add warmth. Glossy white tiles and granite countertops feature in the kitchen and bathrooms, and the exterior is finished in white render, minimizing heat absorption and optimizing fuel consumption during construction.
