Story

A vibrant renovation and expansion in Buenos Aires La Casita Hedonista is a thoughtful renovation and expansion of a horizontal property (PH) in Buenos Aires, designed for actress, artist, and writer Carla Quevedo. The project preserves the original brick walls and pitch pine wood, integrating them with a new metallic tubular structure that adds modernity and additional space. The design draws inspiration from David Hockney's 'A Bigger Splash,' using color as a spatial logic to enrich the experience of inhabiting. The ground floor features a revitalized patio, transformed into a green lung with vertical circulation. A helical staircase under a transparent roof connects the levels, ensuring natural light floods the interior. The conversation pit, a leather-colored rectangular operation, serves as a communal space for contemplation and entertainment. The light blue kitchen, facing the patio, bridges the interior with the semi-covered area, maintaining a social connection with the garden. At the rear, a pool designed for laps concludes with a hydromassage, complemented by a recycled volume that forms a guest house. The middle floor hosts a bedroom with terrace access, a laundry room, and a full bathroom, while the top floor is an intimate space for Carla, featuring a bedroom, main bathroom, and study. This level is unified by a pink piece of furniture integrating various functional elements. The design allows for flexible openness to natural light and the covered patio.
