HOUSE 2302
Revitalizing Tradition with Contemporary Dialogue HOUSE 2302 is a thoughtful rehabilitation of a farmhouse located in the picturesque region of Baix Empordà, Spain. Designed by Nordest arquitectura, the project embodies a harmonious blend of respect for tradition and a modern architectural outlook. The design engages in a dialogue with its surroundings, featuring open interiors that are bathed in natural light and enriched with materiality. The architectural strategy pivots on two pivotal interventions. The central space, once fragmented by a staircase, has been transformed into a semi-exterior core that seamlessly connects the entrance with the southern garden. Here, interior walls are reimagined as facades, while the staircase, with its robust concrete railings, delineates routes, levels, and a protected studio on the upper floor. This space becomes an almost exterior environment where light, vegetation, and materials converse. The kitchen's side porch is a composition of solid and glazed strips, housing a dining area and barbecue with a visual link to the garden. The side bays, characterized by soft tones and natural carpentry, offer tranquility, while the central core, defined by stone, concrete, and wood, imparts a distinct character. The glazed southern facade skillfully merges interior and exterior spaces, preserving the farmhouse's essence.
