Tor zur Literatur
An architectural proposal integrating the German Literature Archive into Marbach's landscape with sloping green roofs. The proposed extension for the German Literature Archive in Marbach by Duesing Architekten is a thoughtful integration of architecture and landscape. Two low, gently sloping volumes emerge organically from the topography, extending the park with accessible green roofs that create a new public pathway across the site. This design mediates the scale between the surrounding suburban dwellings, the open landscape of Schillerhöhe, and the existing museum buildings. The archive spaces are strategically embedded in the ground, ensuring stable climatic conditions essential for the preservation of the collections. In contrast, the public areas are designed to open towards the park, offering curated views into the archive's work, thus fostering a connection between the building's interior functions and the surrounding environment.
