Square and Garden, Solothurn
A transformative urban fragment in Solothurn The redevelopment of the former AZ Medien site in Solothurn by EM2N Architekten presents a nuanced approach to urban design, where the project is not merely an isolated architectural object but an active spatial framework. This mixed-use urban fragment is organized around two complementary outdoor spaces: a public square that engages with the city and a shared garden at its heart. Central to the design is the transformation of the existing printshop, which is retained and reworked to anchor the project both spatially and historically. This former industrial building provides a robust foundation for the site's long-term development, allowing for adaptation and everyday use over time.
