Integrating architecture with the dramatic Utah landscape Nestled in the rugged terrain of Park City, Utah, Quarry House by RKD Architects is a testament to the harmonious integration of architecture and nature. The residence is composed of three interconnected pods, each featuring a distinctive curved, outward-leaning wall of glass that reaches towards the Wasatch Mountain Range. This bold design choice blurs the boundary between interior and exterior spaces. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the expansive views framed by the angled glass walls, which project the interior spaces into the landscape. The open-plan layout of the main living areas ensures that the dramatic scenery remains the focal point, with concrete floors and a monolithic fireplace hearth complementing the natural materials used throughout the home. The design extends beyond the interior, with outdoor spaces that include a covered dining area and an outdoor fireplace, seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor environments. The use of natural materials such as limestone, wood, and exposed steel reinforces the home's contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a dialogue with its natural surroundings.
