Story

Transforming Urban Landscapes with Distinctive Form

Octavia Hill is a striking residential building situated in the heart of the rapidly developing Hyde Park Hoofddorp, part of the Metropolitan Region Amsterdam. The project, crafted by Studioninedots, occupies a prominent site defined by three intersecting urban axes. Its unique and narrow footprint presented a challenge that was ingeniously transformed into an opportunity, resulting in a complex volume that houses 124 quality social housing units.

The building's design is a study in contrasts, presenting a shifting identity from different perspectives. It transitions from a pure, orthogonal block to a sculpted form that intrigues and engages. This architectural approach not only maximizes the site's potential but also activates the urban surroundings, contributing to the vibrant urban district envisioned by MVRDV's master plan.
