Story

Enhancing a bourgeois house with modern efficiency

This project involves the thermal renovation and extension of an early 20th-century bourgeois house located in Asnières-sur-Seine. The extension defines the northern boundary of the plot, integrating a kitchen that seamlessly connects to both the living room and an elevated terrace. A glazed roof crowns the extension, inviting northern light and facilitating natural ventilation.

The terrace, raised to align with the house's main level, features a facade with a glass door and a sash window that ingeniously converts the kitchen worktop into an outdoor counter. Structural modifications on the ground floor enable a fluid connection between the living room and kitchen, with metal sections reinforcing the existing walls.

The first floor respects the original room layout, while the attic benefits from sarking insulation, exposing the roof structure internally. Natural zinc roofing and aluminum window frames enhance durability, and timber-framed partitions with Fermacell lining ensure robust interior walls. Green film-faced plywood is used for interior joinery, preserving the house's original volume and composition.
