Extension of the Technology-Based Business Center (CEBT)
Reimagining Workspace Dynamics in León The Extension of the Technology-Based Business Center (CEBT) in León, designed by VIRA arquitectura, is a testament to the evolving needs of modern workspaces. This compact, detached building, known locally as the “Red Building,” is strategically positioned parallel to its predecessor, creating a dynamic visual and functional dialogue. The building's rectangular form is punctuated by two light-filled courtyards, enhancing the spatial experience with natural illumination and greenery. The ground floor hosts a reception area, cafeteria, and office zone, all connected by a striking metallic helical staircase. This level is characterized by a double-height space that visually connects the floors, with the first courtyard serving as a verdant backdrop. A north-facing ramp with large double-height windows creates a rhythm of solids and voids, guiding visitors to a multifunctional hall designed for diverse configurations. This hall, flanked by the second courtyard, opens to the street with a large glass window, protected by a porch. On the first floor, the design is less dense, featuring a training room, relaxation area, locker zone, and a coworking space illuminated by a translucent vaulted skylight. This skylight, with fiberglass insulation, ensures uniform, glare-free lighting, ideal for computer work. The building's material palette combines slender glass openings, smooth aluminum composite panels, and unique brickwork that evokes a pixelated texture, reflecting the building's technological purpose. The south facade is equipped with textile sunshades for solar control, while the roof offers an outdoor lounge area for relaxation, shielded by awnings. The building's simple yet effective organization addresses user demands with a focus on energy efficiency and bioclimatic behavior, ensuring user comfort through light, vegetation, and visual interconnection.
