Casa Hermi
A transformative urban dwelling in Sagunto
Casa Hermi urban living in Sagunto, situated in a neighborhood known for its traditional house-courtyard typology. Designed for a single occupant with a dynamic lifestyle, the project challenges the rigidity of conventional domestic models. The architecture employs a modular system of nineteen identical spatial units, each measuring three by three by three meters. These modules can function independently or in combination, allowing for adaptable and varied spatial configurations.
The dwelling is organized around a large central courtyard, complemented by two smaller courtyards, creating a breathable structure where only half of the space is enclosed. The use of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) underscores the project's commitment to sustainability, with recycled facade materials repurposed into furniture, harmoniously combined with customized IKEA pieces.
The vibrant use of color, inspired by the cinematic palettes of Wes Anderson, enhances the house's optimistic character, highlighting both singular elements and entire spaces. This contemporary architecture project not only integrates seamlessly with its urban context but also proposes a new, flexible approach to domestic living.
