Atelier Pomo
A cultivated landscape within an urban office The Atelier Pomo in Porto is a project that embraces the provisional nature of its existing space, transforming it with a landscape practice that thrives on subtle interventions. The design begins with the floor, where green tiles are interspersed with yellow squares, evoking the image of flowers scattered across a meadow. This systematic yet casual pattern introduces a sense of optimism, turning the office into a cultivated landscape. Above, a network of thin metal lines forms a geometric web across the ceiling, complementing the tiled floor below. This second structure acknowledges the ceiling's roughness rather than concealing it, creating a dialogue between the two layers. The office space unfolds between these layers with minimal interruption, allowing strong columns and opaque walls to maintain their presence. Reflective asphaltic screens wrap around certain elements, multiplying the room's fragments. Natural light enters through a deep formal window, casting patterns across the tiles, plants, and desks. The architecture avoids a sense of completion, instead establishing a framework for everyday work to unfold.
