PILOTPROJEKT 2401
A Harmonious Dialogue with the Alpine Landscape In the heart of Pontresina, PILOTPROJEKT 2401 by Jacques Moussafir Architectes exemplifies a sensitive integration with its alpine surroundings. The project is situated on a sloping site, where the architecture gracefully settles into the terrain rather than dominating it. Two identical rectangular volumes are strategically shifted along the slope, creating a composition that respects the existing natural elements, such as tall conifers, while offering expansive views to the south and west. The design generates intermediate thresholds, forming semi-public spaces that mediate the relationship between the landscape and the neighborhood. Inside, the split-level configuration fosters fluid movement and social continuity, encouraging interaction and collective living. The use of local materials, including concrete and wood, reflects a commitment to engaging with local traditions and reducing the carbon footprint. The prefabricated structural frame, which incorporates services within its hollow beams and columns, allows for open and adaptable floor plans. The thickened façades transform into inhabitable spaces, offering areas for pause and reflection. This project unfolds as a continuous dialogue between topography, community, and the alpine horizon, where structure becomes space and façade becomes place.
