Museum And Learning Centre
A thoughtful integration of architecture within a historic Japanese garden Set within the serene confines of a historic Japanese garden in Tokyo, the Museum and Learning Centre by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen is a masterful blend of cultural reverence and contemporary design. The site, which includes a centuries-old villa and pond, is enclosed by traditional estate walls, creating a secluded yet inviting atmosphere. The architectural intervention consists of a sequence of three new roofs that redefine the spatial dynamics of the existing walls. These roofs create a series of interconnected spaces that guide visitor movement through the site. The design harmonizes the built environment with the natural landscape, ensuring that the architecture complements rather than competes with the garden's historic character.
