Landscape Staircase in Vall del Paradís
A transformative architectural intervention reconnecting Manresa's historical paths with a minimalist steel staircase. The Landscape Staircase in Vall del Paradís is a striking architectural intervention by Comas Pont, situated in Manresa, Spain. This project revives a lost section of the Camino de Ignacio de Loyola, bridging the Pont Vell and the Creu del Tort to the Pou de llum. The staircase serves as a viewpoint, offering new perspectives of the Vall del Paradís, the Cardener River, and Montserrat. The design respects the agricultural fabric of the Cardener orchards, integrating seamlessly with the existing vegetation and dry-stone walls. The staircase spans a 13-meter height difference between terraces, embodying a dialogue between the weight of the earth and the lightness of the air. Constructed from Ø16mm corrugated steel bars, the structure achieves transparency and a delicate balance between interior and exterior spaces.
