La Cort . Seva
A house in harmony with its landscape La Cort . Seva, designed by López . Marcuerquiaga, is a residence that emerges organically from its site, nestled on the edge of the Montseny Natural Park. The design strategy preserves the existing garden and stable, situating the house at the southern end of the plot. This positioning allows the main living spaces to face north, while the zigzag profile of the roof introduces a large skylight, channeling sunlight into the central double-height space. This central space acts as an energy hub, capturing warmth in winter and facilitating ventilation in summer. It organizes the home's circulation, housing a staircase and walkways, and includes a small studio with views of the natural park. The structure of the house is anchored by a masonry plinth made from reclaimed stone, connecting it to its historical context. Reinforced concrete walls, tinted with local gravel, provide a contemporary aesthetic while offering substantial thermal mass. The roof and central platforms, constructed from Douglas fir, allow light to permeate the interior.
