Story

A dynamic transformation in Barcelona's Poble Nou district This project by Metronom reimagines an 80 m² apartment on the ground floor of Barcelona's Poble Nou district. The design introduces a system of non-orthogonal partitions and furniture, incorporating the diagonal as a new geometry to enhance spatial generosity and dynamism. The bedroom can fully open to the living room, blurring traditional boundaries and fostering fluidity within the space. The kitchen assumes a central role, connecting different areas of the home. The reorganization of the layout allows for the introduction of new bathrooms, while sightlines along the diagonals direct views towards the garden, reinforcing the continuity between interior and exterior spaces. Carefully selected noble materials infuse warmth and comfort, transforming the apartment into an inviting and elegant refuge. In the garden, sleek concrete slabs form an abstract path leading to a rear guest pavilion. This geometry contrasts intriguingly with the organic shapes of the surrounding wild landscaping. The pavilion offers additional living space and a covered outdoor lounge, providing shelter from inclement weather. Through subtle shifts in geometry, the apartment gains depth, direction, and a renewed spatial identity, framing the garden as an extension of daily life.
