A fusion of media, education, and civic engagement on the shores of Lake Geneva The Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) headquarters in Lausanne exemplifies a sophisticated architectural approach that marries technical functionality with civic engagement. Located on the EPFL and UNIL campus, this building as a public venue enriched with educational and research facilities. The design is characterized by its dual spatial configuration: a series of four independent rectangular boxes and a curvilinear slab suspended 8 meters above the ground. These boxes, each dedicated to specific functions such as broadcasting studios, technical facilities, and administrative offices, are strategically positioned to support the overarching slab. The ground floor is a permeable space, integrating a glazed foyer that serves as the main entrance. This area is a confluence of public and logistical functions, housing a restaurant, café, and technical facilities, alongside a garage for production trucks. Above, the suspended slab forms an open-plan 'field' of offices and production spaces. This area is illuminated by a shed roof and organized by Warren trusses, creating a dynamic and flexible workspace. The interior's quasi-urban layout, punctuated by furniture and protruding boxes, echoes the sprawling nature of the surrounding university campus.
