The Hepworth Garden
A new horticultural hub for The Hepworth Wakefield
The Hepworth Garden in Wakefield, designed by Mary Duggan Architects, introduces a thoughtfully planned garden workshop, semi-covered yard, and green-roofed gallery store. This small-scale architectural intervention is intended to support the long-term care and maintenance of The Hepworth Wakefield Garden. The design includes dedicated spaces for tool and equipment storage, a semi-covered work yard with a plant nursery, and a workshop for the Cultural Gardener and volunteers.
The addition of a studio space within the workshop aims to enhance community engagement through volunteering opportunities, horticultural workshops, and learning events. The project also supports a new Horticultural Traineeship, providing hands-on experience and educational growth for local young people interested in the horticultural industry.
