Restaurant Brücke
A seamless blend of old and new on the Aare riverbank
The Restaurant Brücke in Niedergösgen has been thoughtfully expanded with a wooden annex by schneider & schneider architects. This addition complements the existing main building, sitting harmoniously along the riverbank of the Aare. Designed as an arbour, the annex is not a standalone structure but a continuation of the original, ensuring a cohesive ensemble.
Both the old and new buildings are organized on a single level, which allows the restaurant kitchen in the original structure to connect directly with the dining room in the annex. The main façade, facing the Aare, is horizontally divided into three distinct zones. The concrete base zone addresses the topographical differences, creating a seamless connection between the terrain and the façade. Generous guillotine windows in the lower zone establish a strong relationship with the outdoors and the river.
The high-ceilinged dining room accommodates up to 50 guests, with furnishings designed for flexible use, catering to both restaurant and banquet setups. Warm materials enhance the lounge-like atmosphere, while the building services and ventilation systems are discreetly housed on a separate technical floor above the dining area.
