Story

Fundación . 2025

Rethinking the Act of Founding

Fundación . 2025 is an installation that challenges traditional architectural paradigms by shifting the focus from construction above ground to the exploration of foundational elements below. This sculptural intervention, situated at La Casa Encendida, the act of “founding” as a downward exploration into what sustains and conditions all forms of knowledge.

Materials play a central role, acting not as passive supports but as active agents that accumulate memory and produce language. This approach questions the epistemological tradition that separates reason from sensation and subject from matter. Instead, Fundación emphasizes a practice rooted in physical involvement and direct experience, where thinking and feeling are inseparable.

Design Highlights

  • Emphasis on foundational exploration rather than upward construction.

  • Materials as active agents generating ideas and meaning.

  • A practice based on physical involvement and direct experience.

  • Challenges conventional separations between reason and sensation.
