Florenc 21 Block B02
A modern interpretation of Prague's architectural legacy
Florenc 21 Block B02 in Prague embodies a contemporary approach to urban design, reimagining the traditional Prague block. The project consists of ten distinct buildings, each contributing to a cohesive urban form. This ensemble is structured into three primary components: a dynamic commercial base, a central residential body, and a distinctive crown of rooftop dwellings.
The architecture is characterized by its expressive corners and rhythmic facades, which assert a strong urban presence. The rooftops, designed as suspended houses, offer double or triple orientations with planted terraces and expansive views, echoing the gables of Prague.
Materiality plays a crucial role, with a modular glass skin that is colored, silk-screened, and sandblasted, creating a luminous facade that reflects Prague's chromatic traditions. At the heart of the development lies a continuous portico surrounding a mini-forest, serving as both a climate regulator and a shared landscape. This space fosters intergenerational interaction, providing a blend of sunny and shaded areas for communal activities.
