Fire Station and Ambulance Service, Zele
A Harmonious Integration of Functionality and Site The Fire Station and Ambulance Service in Zele, Belgium, designed by A T A M A, the meticulous orchestration of spatial and functional requirements. The building's design adheres to a strict logic that aligns the emergency services' needs with the unique characteristics of the site. Its linear facade, complemented by a canopy, faces the adjacent park, creating a seamless transition between the built environment and nature. The structure's plan is dictated by the flow of emergency interventions, culminating in a dominant vehicle hall. This hall serves as the endpoint of a trajectory that begins in the residential quarters on the first floor, accessible via straightforward internal circulation. The ground floor is efficiently organized with essential spaces such as the entrance, changing rooms, technical rooms, and more, ensuring a seamless sequence of actions during emergencies. The first floor accommodates offices, a meeting room, an archive room, a canteen, and a classroom. The building's construction showcases the assembly process, with wooden beams supported by concrete columns and wooden wall finishes, providing a high-quality acoustic environment that fosters a calm and focused atmosphere.
