350.000 Ha . Madrid
A transformative architectural proposal for ARCO 2026 The 350.000 Ha project by Bouzas . salazarsequeromedina is a compelling architectural response to the devastation of wildfires in the northwestern Iberian Peninsula. Designed for the 45th edition of ARCO, this project embodies a duality: a constructed Guest Lounge and an evoked memory of the scorched forests. The title reflects the vast area affected by wildfires, with a significant portion in Ourense. Central to the design is the use of timber salvaged from these burned forests, a material choice that speaks to resilience and renewal. The project explores the primitive allure of fire, creating a space that gathers visitors around a warm, communal glow. The Guest Lounge is a sanctuary within the fair, offering a space for reflection and connection.
Design Highlights
Material Palette: Utilizes four types of reclaimed timber, including charred bark and sawn timber, to create structural and aesthetic elements. Lumbre Concept: A monumental-scale installation that evokes the warmth and gathering power of fire, contrasting with the fair's visual noise. Atmospheric Design: Six diagonal planes of light suspended above, with a contrasting dark space for informal visitor rest. Functional Zones: Includes a bar, cloakroom, sponsor areas, and a VIP room, organized around a central light-dark dichotomy.
